MEDALS + SWAG

The Williams Route 66 Marathon is famous for its award-winning finisher medals, and we know you'll love the bling for 2024. This year's finisher medal, styled after the historic Meadow Gold sign, is the fourth in our series of five iconic Route 66 landmarks leading up to our 20th anniversary celebration. First erected in 1934 at the corner of 11th and Lewis, the Meadow Gold sign was created for the Beatrice Creamery Company. According to legend, the sign was angled so that the bright neon would always be visible in the windows of the nearby competitor Hawk Dairy Company. The sign fell into disrepair in the 1970s but was saved in the 2000s, thanks to the hard work of the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture and the Oklahoma Route 66 Association, who worked together using grant funding from the National Park Service and funds from the City of Tulsa to return the sign to its former glory.
