Paul Greer is a Professor in Health and Exercise Science at San Diego City College, has a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology, and 40 years coaching experience with SDTC. Coach Paul works with over 500 runners as the Director for the Rockin N Runnin program.
A top San Diego section miler at St. Augustine High School, Paul was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 1995. He went on to become the school record holder for 1500 meters at San Diego State (3:42.44), which still stands today. He broke the 4 minute mark in the mile (3:59.79), was a 1992 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier at 1500m (3:39.05), and competed on the European track circuit.
In addition Mr. Greer is the United States Track & Field President for San Diego and serves as Secretary for the USATF Cross Country Council. In 2016, he was selected to be the Men’s Coach for Team USA’s Senior (20-35) and Junior’s teams (19 and under) at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country Championships.

Pierce has a long history of running achievement. He was All-American in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase at Stanford University in 2006, represented the U.S. National Team at the Edinburgh, Scotland World Championships 2008, competed in more than 5 National Championships, ran in the U.S. Olympic Trials, was a professional runner with Asics and Reebok, and was 2-time New York State Champion in high school. As a sports performance professional he’s worked with a world record holder, 6 Olympic Gold Medalists, over 15 Olympic Medalists, 16 professional sports organizations and innumerable elite athletes of all disciplines.
Matthew joined the San Diego Track Club Coaching staff in 2016. In addition to working as a Consultant in the healthcare sector, Matthew is the Director of the Next Level Training Program. He is a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach who has a multifaceted background with running as a Collegiate Athlete, Meet Official, Running Specialty Retailer, and Race Director.
A standout runner in college, Matthew holds 5 school records for the Scots. In May 2012, Matthew started his post collegiate journey running for Playmakers Elite and continues to compete in events ranging from elite road miles to half marathons all throughout the US.
He has created lifting, nutrition, and training programs tailored to athletes of all ages and abilities for events ranging from the 60-meter dash to Ultra marathons. Matt has worked with a World Champion, Olympians, NCAA Champions, All Americans, State Champions, US trials qualifiers, and Ironman World championship qualifiers.
As a coach, Matthew’s aspiration is to be fully engaged with his athletes to help them achieve their goals, defy their limits, develop their character, and overcome adversity.
I am an avid runner and triathlete as well as a Certified Triathlon and Running Coach. Running changed my entire life when I was in college and overweight. I have worked in the fitness industry as a trainer and coach for over a decade. I am a familiar face in Tri Club of San Diego - so if you dabble in triathlons, it is likely that we have met!
I am excited to coach the Thursday night workouts for SDTC and get to know all of you! I love helping others get faster and stronger and get more excited seeing you guys reach your goals than reaching my own. My goal is to help all of you and continue to help grow our community and the love of running.
Meriah Earle is SDTC's coach for the North County Track Workouts held in San Marcos each Tuesday evening. She also serves as assistant coach for the University of California San Diego cross country program.
Earle ran both cross country and track at San Diego State, graduating in 2001 with a degree in biology. In recent years, she has trained herself to run marathons, qualifying for both the 2020 and the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials for the marathon.
