Honoring the legacy of Karen Perzyk
The Crew here at RF Events was shocked and saddened by the news of KP’s death in the winter of 2018. Karen was a joy to have at the T-Rex tri series, always upbeat, gratious and thankful. When Karen finally won the event overall, our team cheered wildly, not just for her incredible athletic achievement but because we had all become KP groupies, captivated by her infectious smile, laugh, backwards hat and inspirational social media posts. Karen has left a hole too big to ever fill.
Starting in the summer of 2018, in honor of KP, we are making a $1,500 donation to cancer research from the T-Rex Series and will make annual $1,500 donation in Karen’s name going forward. We will also honor Karen’s legacy with the creation of the KP Strong award. The award will be an annual trophy going to the female and male finisher in the T-Rex series races with the closest finish time to Karen’s winning time of 1:11:23 (Not Karen’s fastest time, just sayin’) Winner’s names will be engraved on a commemorative KP Strong trophy that will be displayed at every race going forward, keeping Karen’s legacy alive.
