ABOUT RACE FOR THE KIDS RBC
Race for the Kids is a global initiative that brings communities together to run, walk, and wheel in support of youth charities. With over $93 million CAD fundraised to date, 2024 marks a milestone year.
The 3rd edition of the RBC Race for the Kids Cayman Islands event benefitted the Alex Panton Foundation, also known as APF, a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness of mental health issues affecting children and young adults in the Cayman Islands, with a particular focus on anxiety and depression.
The Foundation was established in memory of Alex Panton, who in 2010 tragically succumbed to the effects of severe depression, at the age of 16. Jane and Wayne Panton, Alex’s parents, along with some of Alex’s closest friends and their mothers founded APF to help build awareness and reduce the stigma around mental illness.
The Alex Panton Foundation aims to provide hope and resources to friends, family, teachers, and classmates to help save the lives of children and young adults struggling with mental illness.
Thanks to the generosity of the Cayman community, the 2024 RBC Race For the Kids Cayman Islands raised over US$22,000.
